Southwest District Scholarship Program
For the past several years, the members of the Southwest District Athletic Board have chosen to participate in the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Scholarship Program. This past year, ten athletes from the Southwest, one being a minority, were chosen to receive scholarships financed by the State Office’s Foundation. In addition, thirty-three athletes were honored and awarded scholarships financed via the sale of tee-shirts and other clothing items at Southwest sectional and district tournaments. Every high school principal will receive applications and will be permitted to nominate one male and one female from every high school across the Southwest District. Nominations must be submitted by early April. Winners are chosen via the following criteria: grade point average, standardized test scores, athletic letters won, special athletic awards (all-league, all-district, all-state, team championships (district, regional, and state), and a written essay. Recipients and parents are honored at special receptions.
