BOYS & GIRLS SWIMMING SECTIONAL AND DISTRICT MEETS - Rules and Regulations. Take what is needed from these rules and regulations for your Sectional and District Meets.

A school that actually competes in at least two interscholastic meets as a school team prior to the non-interscholastic cut-off date (January 9, 2012), is eligible for relay event entry at the Sectional/District Tournament.

1. Each school may enter four (4) competitors in the Sectional and four (4) will compete in each event, with no cut-off times. January 9, 2012, is the FORTY-TWO (42) DAY CUT-OFF FOR INDEPENDENT SWIMMING.

2. Admission charges to the Sectional Meet will be $6.00, District Meet $6.00.

3. Tournament information will be sent by the manager and all schools will receive prior to Monday, January 16, 2012.

4. Schools shall send School Information Form along with Eligibility Certificates to Sectional Managers no later than Monday, January 23, 2012.

5. Swimming electronic entries must be sent to the swimming tournament manager by 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2012. Diving electronic entries must be received by the diving tournament manager by noon, Friday, February 3, 2012.

7.  The Boys Division II District Swimming Meet will be held at Miami University, Oxford, on Friday morning, February 17, 2012. Warm-ups at 9:15 a.m.; Meet begins at 10:45 a.m.

8.  The Boys Division I District Swimming Meet will be held at Miami University, Oxford, on Friday evening, February 17, 2012. Warm-ups at 4:15 p.m.; Meet begins at 5:45 p.m.

9.  The Girls Division II District Swimming Meet will be held at Miami University, Oxford, on Saturday morning, February 18, 2012. Warm-ups at 9:15 a.m.; Meet begins at 10:45 a.m.

10.  The Girls Division I District Swimming Meet will be held at Miami University, Oxford, on Saturday evening, February 18, 2012. Warm-ups at 4:15 p.m.; Meet begins at 5:45 p.m.

11.  All District Diving will also be held at Miami University, combined Girls Division II and Boys Division II on Monday, February 13, 2012, Boys Division I on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, and Wednesday, February 15, 2012, for Girls Division I.

RELAY TEAM MEMBERS MAY BE CHANGED FROM THE SECTIONAL TO DISTRICT TO STATE TOURNAMENT PROVIDING SWIMMERS ARE ON THE SCHOOL’S TOURNAMENT ELIGIBILITY LIST AND WILL NOT HAVE PARTICIPATED IN MORE EVENTS THAN PERMITTED BY THE FEDERATION RULES.

Boys Division I Advancers to District:

In the individual events, the fastest 32 swimmers in the event will advance to the District meet. However, each sectional site (Centerville, Keating, Mason, and Trotwood) will advance two (2) automatic qualifiers. Any automatic qualifier not in the top 32 will be added at the end in open lanes.

For relay events, the fastest 24 relay teams in the event will advance to the District meet. However, each site (Centerville, Keating, Mason, and Trotwood) will advance two (2) automatic qualifiers. Any automatic qualifier not in the top 24 will be added at the end in open lanes.

In Boys Division I Diving, divers from the Keating, Mason, and combined Centerville/Trotwood sites will each qualify two (2) divers for a total of six (6) automatic qualifiers. In addition, eighteen (18) at large divers (based on scores) will advance for a field of twenty-four (24) qualifying to the district meet.

Boys Division II Advancers to District:

For relay events, the fastest 24 relay teams in the event will advance to the District meet. However, each site (Trotwood and Mason) will advance two (2) automatic qualifiers. Any automatic qualifier not in the top 24 will be added at the end in open lanes.

Girls Division II Diving: The sectionals at Trotwood and Mason will qualify two (2) automatic divers each, plus a total of twenty (20) additional divers based on score, for a field of twenty-four (24) qualifying to the District Tournament.

Boys Division I Advancers to State

The District Tournament will automatically qualify two (2) in each swimming event to the State Meet, with sixteen (16) at large qualifiers that will be selected on the basis of times recorded in the District Meet. Six (6) divers will qualify to the State Meet.

Boys Division II Advancers to State

The District Tournament will automatically qualify two (2) in each swimming event to the State Meet, with sixteen (16) at-large qualifiers that will be selected on the basis of times recorded in the District Meet. Four (4) divers will qualify to the State Meet.

Girls Division I Advancers to State

The District Tournament will automatically qualify two (2) in each swimming event to the State Meet, with sixteen (16) at large qualifiers that will be selected on the basis of times recorded in the District Meet. Seven (7) divers will qualify to the State Meet.

Girls Division II Advancers to State

The District Tournament will automatically qualify two (2) in each swimming event to the State Meet, with sixteen (16) at large qualifiers that will be selected on the basis of times recorded in the District Meet. Five (5) divers will qualify to the State Meet.

Coaches Admission: deck passes to coaches will be distributed in the following manner:

One to five qualifiers – One (1) pass

Six to ten qualifiers – Two (2) passes

Eleven or more qualifiers – Three (3) passes

**Note, relay team counts as 4 qualifiers.

Coaches must be listed on the team entry information in order to qualify for a deck pass.

All other coaches must pay the $6.00 admission fee and are considered spectators.
Alternates for districts must pay the $6.00 admission fee and are considered spectators.  If an alternate competes, the admission fee will be reimbursed.

Send no monies or reports to the OHSAA until the District Board has reviewed your financial work copy. Reports should be emailed to Bob Huelsman (uc69@earthlink.net)  as quickly as possible. If it is mailed it should be sent to Bob Huelsman, P.O. Box 277, Covington, Ohio 45318.

WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY

By District Board Action the following Weather Cancellation Policy has been adopted:

The Southwest District Board has established the following policy for cancellation or postponement of tournaments.

Schools participating in swimming/diving tournaments and reside in a county that experiences a Level Two (2) or Level Three (3) weather emergency, that SITE (tournament) will be postponed. Tournament managers must contact the District Board and make every effort to personally contact each school’s coach, athletic director, or principal.

Schools are also encouraged to make use of the Board website (www.swdab.org) for updated information regarding postponements and cancellations.

The tournament manager will contact the Board Secretary, who will work with the managers to contact the "News Media."

Prior to the start of tournaments, the managers will be instructed to make available to the Board, a contingency plan for weather emergencies.
