2006-2007 Minutes Southwest District Athletic Board Southwest District Board Minutes ROLL CALL BASEBALL REPRESENTATIVES - MR. LEE DAY, MR. MARK THOMPSON Sectional tournament starts April 30-May 12, 2007. Don’t start the first round of competition until Monday, May 7, 2007. Play sectional finals early in the week of District Championship, May 19, 2007. Starting the tournament on May 7, 2007, it is suggested that two divisions play on Monday-Wednesday and the other two divisions play on Tuesday-Thursday. Leave Friday as a rain date. Using this system should help to ease officiating needs. Top seeded team be the home team and use their field for the contest provided that they can meet all board requirements. If not, they can find a field in which to use. Consider implementing an Open Draw for all Division One schools in Cincinnati. SOFTBALL – MR. RICK ARMSTRONG Discussion items: Drawing on same day and same time across the district. Highest seeded team be the home team and host the game provided that they can meet all board standards. Divisions II, III, and IV in Cincinnati move to highest seeded team being the home team and hosting the game. Play all contests on fast pitch fields. If a single game is being held, it should not start before 5:00 p.m. District board member present awards at District Championship. Many coaches are dissatisfied with Worth softball. TENNIS – RUSS KING Discussion items: When does the manager move the tournament inside because of inclement weather? Cincinnati schools are considering asking for an Open Draw. TRACK – MIKE FERNANDEZ
